Infertility Treatment
Infertility is a difficult challenge that can lead to depression, feelings of guilt, and suffering. However, modern infertility treatments offer high chances of pregnancy and complete recovery. Reproductive specialists can accurately identify the causes of infertility and suggest personalized treatment options. When treatment is started in a timely manner, most patients have a chance to become parents.
Treatment of Female Infertility
Tubal-Peritoneal Infertility
Fallopian tube blockage, both in the isthmic and ampullary parts, can be treated through laparoscopic microsurgery. This method significantly reduces the risk of complications and accelerates recovery compared to traditional open surgery (laparotomy). If laparoscopic surgery is ineffective or if the tubes are severely damaged, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is the preferred method of treatment.
Endocrine Infertility
The first stage of treatment involves normalizing the function of the endocrine system. The second stage includes medications to stimulate follicle development, followed by drugs to stimulate ovulation (the release of the egg from the follicle).
Endometriosis
Endometriosis is treated with medication or limited surgical intervention. If these methods are ineffective, IVF is recommended.
Uterine Pathology
For infertility related to uterine pathology, hysteroscopy is used — a method that includes both diagnostic (office) and surgical (therapeutic) procedures.
Unexplained Infertility
For patients with unexplained infertility, several treatment options are available:
1. Waiting strategy — continuing attempts to conceive naturally.
2. Intrauterine insemination (IUI).
3. Ovulation stimulation with clomiphene citrate (CC), either alone or in combination with IUI.
4. Ovulation stimulation with gonadotropins (hCG or FSH) combined with IUI.
5. In vitro fertilization (IVF) with micromanipulation and assisted hatching (artificial rupture of the embryo’s shell).
Treatment of Male Infertility
Male infertility treatment may include hormonal therapy to improve sperm maturation, antibiotic therapy, surgical intervention for varicocele, as well as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other reproductive technologies. The causes of male infertility can vary, from developmental disorders of the reproductive organs to environmental factors. Modern medical technologies allow precise identification of the cause and enable the selection of the most effective treatment.
